Deep Sim Jam is a game jam dedicated to simulation-driven design.

The focus is not polish, scope, or content volume. Instead we want you to focus on creating games where systems interact and produce emergent behavior. Entries should prioritize mechanics that influence one another and create outcomes the developer did not explicitly script.

Small prototypes are encouraged if the underlying systems are interesting.

Jam Goal

Create a game built around deep simulation.

Your project should emphasize at least one of the following:

  • Interacting gameplay systems
  • Persistent world state
  • NPC behavior driven by simulation
  • Dynamic economies or resource flows
  • Player-driven emergence
  • Systemic storytelling

The simulation itself should meaningfully affect gameplay outcomes.

Rules

  • New projects are recommended, but not required (can be existing)
  • Any engine or programming language is allowed.
  • Solo developers and teams are welcome.
  • Free or purchased assets are allowed if legally licensed.
  • AI tools are allowed for non-visual tasks, but must be disclosed.
  • Entries must be playable at submission.
