Welcome to yet another Incremental Game Jam, this time the summer edition. IGJ is a bi-annual jam with a 2 week development time and 2 week voting time, and IGJ is run by the incremental games community, for the incremental games community. If you want to participate but aren't sure what an "incremental" game is, make sure to check incremental game websites like galaxy or IncrementalDB for inspiration.
Rules
As previously stated, only submissions that fall under the incremental genre are allowed. Any NSFW or 18+ content is also banned. AI use is permitted, but only if disclosed properly. And finally, you may not prepare code/art/content before the theme is announced. It is however fine to use publicly available material. If you are unsure about the rules and would like clarification, the organizers will be active both in the Community tab and on our community Discord linked below.
Voting and end of jam
The theme will be announced at 19:00 CET/UTC+2 on Saturday, July 4th. After the theme is announced, you will have 14 days to make and submit your projects, until Saturday July 18th 19:00. Afterwards, a 2 week voting period starts which lasts until Saturday August 1st, after which the results will be made public, first on Discord and 15 minutes later on Itch as well.
The judging criteria
IGJ has 4 criteria that are voted on for each game. The first is Fun, which is just for overall enjoyment of the game. Second is Theme, which is how well your game fits the theme. Third is Uniqueness, how original your game is, and finally there's Balance, which is decided based on your games pacing (e.g how much there is to do and how long people have to wait). There is no primary criterion, and final score is based on the average of all of the above, without Itch's punishment if a game gets few ratings.
Theme
The theme will be announced once the jam officially starts!
Our community
IGJ has a Discord , where we make announcements about this jam, and future ones, but we also have an active developer community to ask questions to, and to work together with. You can always use the Community tab to ask questions or team up as well.
That's all, the IGJ team wishes you the best of luck with your projects, and a splendid summer break!
